Making our own play dough is always fun! We go through so much of it making it in big lumps makes perfect sense – and cents!!
This play dough is no cook, and uses Kool Aid to color and scent the dough!
2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup salt (normal fine table salt)
2 Tbsp cream of tartar
2 Tbsp baby oil (or vegetable oil)
1 and a half (1/2) cups boiling water.
1 tsp glycerine – optional. This adds more shine and a silky feel.
Your favorite choice of Kool Aid. You need 1 Kool Aid packet (4grams or so) per ball. The amounts above make 1 ball.
We used Strawberry and Lime – we made 2 balls.
Mix dry ingredients together – Flour + Salt + Cream of Tartar
Carefully pour boiling water into a jug. Into the water add the Kool Aid and mix (smells nice now.)
Then to the water and Kool Aid add the oil and glycerin. Stir well.
Add liquid to dry ingredients and stir until dough forms – then knead for a few minutes to get a soft silky finish!
This play dough will last for months if kept in a sealed container or zip lock in the fridge between uses!
