Do you know that Sugar Scrubs are not that hard to make?!
You can easily make this Christmas Peppermint Sugar Scrub at home – quick and easy – 3 Ingredients, and it makes such a wonderful gift!
Quick Sidestep: Is sugar is good for your skin?
I wondered about that, if it’s not good for your insides then what about the outside? Turns out it draws moisture from the air – hydrating your skin, it is a natural source of glycolic acid that is absorbed by the skin and encourages cell turnover AND its small particles are a wonderful exfoliant!
If you are unsure or have a sensitive skin is it always a good idea to do a patch test before using this product!
How do you make Peppermint Sugar Scrub?
You will need:
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- about 10 drops peppermint essential oil (add to your own preference)
- Glass Jar – with a lid that seals
- Things to decorate your jar – we used red bakers twine and gift tags
Throw it all into a plastic bag and shake shake shake!!
This is the fun part – get your kids to help!!
You can also mix it all up in a glass bowl. Plastic will absorb the peppermint oil, so make sure you are not using your best plastic mixing bowl!
Once it is mixed, put it into a clean (preferably sterilized) glass jar that seals well.
A Little Tip: A HOT dishwasher cycle will pretty much sterilize glass jars like this! Alternatively you can put it into boiling water or a hot oven – make sure your jar is oven proof first!
In a clean jar this Sugar Scrub will keep for up to two months!
This sugar scrub is the PERFECT winter bath time product!
I love scrubs and I LOVE Peppermint – especially in winter, it wakes me up and gives me so much energy!
According to LIVESTRONG Peppermint Aromatherapy benefits include; cooling, acts as an antispasmodic, an anti nausea agent, a decongestant and a stimulant that improves concentration and increases energy levels. It is also mood elevating!
There is no reason why you should not try this!! I can personally vouch for it!
Coconut oil is fabulous for dry winter skin, which in my case I have all year round!!
Coconut oil is used in many beauty products, and for good reason – it is naturally hydrating – a brilliant moisturizer, it’s antibacterial and anti fungal!
Have already said there is no reason not to make some!?
Makes a great gift too!!
